My thoughts for the day

Haylie is a junior in college aren't you done with all that FFA stuff?

No we aren't

I don't understand why are you still doing it?

Here's why we believe in the future of Agriculture...We will forever support the Blue and Gold...we will park cars, chaperone kids, haul trash, deliver water, feed animals, clean stalls or whatever we can to help support these kids their projects and the FFA.... There are so many parents that want to be more involved but can't and we understand that and I say that's great and amazing so don't worry be there when you can and when you can't we will be there for your child. The other sad reality to that is there are so many parents that could be more supportive and involved but just can't be bothered to support their kids and help out with the things their FFA chapter does in the community....because of our experiences with FFA we grew and learned....because of FFA and her AG teachers and the experiences she had Haylie is in college pursing her dream to teach Agricultural education to future generations and We couldn't be more proud of her or more thankful....We also truly believe that if we had not been there supporting her and being involved to show her what was important to her was important to us that so many opportunities would have been missed because after all our children see this in what we do not what we say and if we are not interested or can't be bothered then sadly neither can they ....so for all those kids whose parents can't be bothered to help we and others like us will be there to happily support them and say hey your doing great and this is an amazing thing to be involved in there are so many life skills taught in these classes.....after all our future depends on the Future Farmers of America!!!

We know that Haylie Dobbs is and will always be God’s precious gift to J.c. Dobbs and I. We know that she belongs to God and that he put her in our care to be nurtured. She need to be fed and clothed, loved and cherished, taught about God and brought to baptism. It is an awesome, but wonderful responsibility. In the process of this nurturing, we bond with our children so tightly we sometimes forget that they really aren’t ours. Even though moving our baby so far away and letting her fly on her own is difficult for us we know she is safe and secure in Him and that she will accomplish great things in this world. We love you and are so very proud of you Haylie!!

Janet Evanovich

I am definitely addicted to the Stephanie Plum series. I can't get enough. I have read ever single book Janet has written to date. Here are some quotes that show why I love this series. I can't wait for Takedown Twenty

"Itu2019s the Boy Scouts who are always prepared. Cops are always hungry." - Joe Morelli, Hot Six

"I swear I donu2019t know how you ever make a capture." Vincent Plum,Seven Up

"I'm disappointed. Usually when I'm with you a car explodes or a building burns down." Ranger, Hard Eight

I also loved The Heist

"Sure," he said. "We don't get nearly enough quality father-daughter time." - Jake,The Heist

And Pros & Cons. I haven't found anything she had written I don't like.

Don't forget that The Con is On

The Perfect Marriage

I was asked what I think the perfect marriage is and how do you make marriage last?

My answer there isn't one!

But here are my thoughts on what you need if you even have a chance at making it last.

When you get married the bible tells us that two become one and I believe that but staying that way is all up to you!

I think you need to find someone whose biggest fear is losing you not because they cant be alone but because without you they are not complete. I think you should fight like a married couple but make up like your life depends on it. Talk like you are and actually be each others best friend. Always flirt with each other like you did when you first fell in love. Protect each other like siblings. Never go to bed angry, always kiss each other goodnight and always always always make sure your better half never has a single doubt about how much you love them.

Because if you ignore them they will ignore you. If you don't have actual conversations (not questions with one word replies) then you will reach a point when you just won't speak anymore at all. If you don't put any effort into it eventually neither will they and the two that became one will just be two again. Leading totally separate lives even if you are under the same roof.

Marriage depends on you and what you put into it. The first thing you should put in it is God. You reap what you sow. And you get out of it what you put into it. I pray daily for God to make me the kind of christian woman, mother and wife I need to be for him, my husband and my family.

That is my answer!

Another School Year

Well it's been a crazy busy summer but here we are starting another school year. I can't believe that Haylie is a sophomore. I have empty nest already and she hasn't even left the house yet!! Honestly I hope she lives here the whole time she's in college. We did have a great vacation I love our time together on the cruises with no electronics and even though there is the constant if we had our phones this and if we had our phones that I think deep down the girls are thankful for the break from electronic communication, even if they do have to actually converse with each other and us. (GASP..if you can imagine)Cruel and unusual punishment for teens I know. Haylie will be showing PorkChop the hog at the wc fair this year so that should be interesting. I have to say for an hog he is quite sweet and he and her together are very entertaining to say the least he's more like a HUGE puppy than a hog! I am very proud of her for all she has done this summer the hog, her job through the week and her other job on the weekends. She is growing up to fast I'd like a rewind button but instead I'll just be grateful that she has a dedication to serving God and a good work ethic!

Random crazy busy time

Well things have been crazy and busy lately. I feel sometimes like I am butting my head against a wall. There are days I don't know if I'm coming or going or remember where I've been! I know where I'd like to be but the problem is climbing the mountain to get there. I just cling to my faith that God will give me strength and see me through it! I know he will because I know he always has in the past. I am praying morning noon and night that I might have the patience and sense to just shut up and listen to him so that I can figure out the changes that he has in store for me. Hopefully I can fully embrace them and know there is a blessing in all this somewhere. Good news is doctors appt on Monday and the plan is one more month on my final treatments and then I will have completed my years of faslodex/tamox and no lump recurrences outside the normal realm...Yeah!! No meds in my system hopefully means I can get my complexion back. No more nasty skin hemorrhage's!! I hated that my meds sometimes made me look like I had a skin disease of some kind but it is a small price to pay for what it cures! God is truly great and I am so thankful he loves me regardless of how truly unworthy I am!

Haylie is the best thing that God has ever blessed me with and these days of being the mother of a teenage girl are so truly stressful, irritating, draining and a wonderful blessing at the same time. She is a great young lady and very respectful to others and considerate of their feelings. When I hear people tell me about things she has said or done it makes me very proud of the young lady she is becoming so it tells me we must be doing something right even if I feel like I'm always doing it wrong! However with me where there used to be a sweet hug and a kiss and mommy can i help you mommy can i do it. Those days have been replaced by MOM....UGH...and slammed doors (though I know it's only because of that hard headed stubbornness she gets from her dad). I just try to remember that God has given me the most important job ever and that is to be her mother and teach her the way to be not to be her friend and let her do or say whatever she wants. She doesn't have to like me right now in fact most of the time she doesn't but by the time she appreciates me being a mom to her and not just a friend. Maybe she will figure out maybe just maybe I was right she will probably have kids of her own... I wonder if this is why mom gets such a chuckle at mine and Angie's frustration with Haylie and Bayli. I'm guessing yes...

I'm seriously thinking of changing my relationship status to single or widow. I feel like I am most of the time. My hubby is always gone to this meeting or that meeting. He is always so preoccupied with all of his elected to positions and clubs that he belongs to. All of his extra time he has goes to doing the other things he needs to do but hasn't gotten done yet! Well as you can see that doesn't leave much time at all for him just to be home! I am very proud of my husband he works hard and gives freely to others without expecting anything in return. What makes me sad is my main connection with him right now in this busy and crazy time is playing his secretary...though I told him I need a raise!!

He is about to run his 3rd marathon and I couldn't be prouder this one in honor of Emma Grace Hampton to raise money for St. Jude and he is taking donations on his website. www.mystjudeheroes.org/jcdobbs

Please go and give and help this great facility take care of the kids that need them. So in December JC Haylie Bayli and I will be headed to Memphis. JC to run 26.2 miles and us of course to cheer him on! Trip to Graceland of course and whatever else we decide to do.

That's all for now thanks for reading and sorry for boring you!

Current happenings

Well we have had alot going on lately. Just as I think we are going to catch up something else starts. Oh well I wouldn't have it any other way. Crazy fun is the best way to describe our household. Our 17/21 year anniversary is this Friday! That's just crazy!! We will be spending our anniversary weekend in Little Rock as Haylie, Bayli and I root JC on running the Little Rock Marathon. Haylie is 14 and Bayli will be 15 in May and that's even crazier!!! Haylie is going to take her written drivers test this week or next week and Bayli passed her driving part last week and now has an official hard copy of a drivers permit though she does like her picture. It seems like they are just growing up way to fast..no way should they be driving...Well that's all that is going on right now... so later

2010

Well we made it through another year and God has blessed us in so many ways. I am so thankful to be a child of God and thankful for the life and the family that he has given me. JC and Haylie are the best blessings that He has ever given me. 2009 is over and this is a new start to a new year I just pray that God continues to bless our family and I pray that he would also bless all of yours. My resolution for the year is to love more, forgive more and try to be more understanding. Afterall if God can do it for me then shouldn't I do it for others. I hope that everyone has a blessed year and we could all start our year by rededicating our lives to God and to our families the way it is intended.

God Bless and Happy 2010

What's Happened

O.K. I know a ton has happened since my last post but I will spare you with trying to fit everything in here and I am going to TRY and do better I promise.....Some of the best highlights my newest niece Brinley turned 4 months old...my newest nephew Korbin started walking...My oldest nephew Taylor got to come home for a week, but is now headed to Afghanistan for about 2 years....Cody and Kaylie got married.....We are all healthy and happy and we went on vacation...Yeah!!!!

here is a run down of our vacation:

We left on 07-04-09 in the morning headed for Galveston with three teenage girls...YIKES!!! But we all had a good time. we stopped at Dave and Busters for dinner in Houston

Then we went to Galveston Beach

We drove all the way to Galveston but every hotel was booked so we backtracked from Galveston and called every hotel until we found a suite in LaPorte Texas...and it turned out to be very nice... We unloaded the luggage and went to Kemah Texas to Joe's Crab Shack and the Boardwalk

Then the next day the girls suckered JC into taking them shopping at the Galleria Mall in Houston that thing is huge...We ate at Rain forest Cafe look at the yummy dessert (the price of which sent JC into convulsions but it sure was yummy) and of course finished with a trip to the Candy Store...Teenage Girls on Sugar...YEAH!!!

Finally we got out of the car and onto the boat on Monday morning

The outfits are of course what they suckered JC into buying them at Hollister...he can always tell me no but for some reason he doesn't tell them NO...Oh well that's what makes him a great Dad and Uncle I guess

We had a great time in Progresso and Cozumel and on the cruise in general the girls didn't fight and JC actually smiled in a few pictures...We got to dress up for the Captains Dinner one of my favorite parts of cruising

Follow this link to view all of our Vacation pictures:

Then we got home early early Sunday morning just in time to catch exactly 40 winks and get up to go eat with Taylor and the family before he had to go back to his base in San Diego and leave for Afghanistan for about 2 years...

If you want to see the rest of these pictures go to

Behind

Yes I know I'm behind on my blog...sorry....We have been so busy with softball and the end of school and oh yeah just life in general I have fallen behind. Our game tonight got canceled so i guess Haylie gets to go to her lock-in. Yeah for her, but we have a game tomorrow in Westville at 1:45 p.m.. Saturday games I could live without unless they are early in the morning. Anyway whenever and where ever she has a game I will be there if I don't have to work. I hate this weather I want summertime to get here and be done with all this mold and pollen and crap that is making me so miserable.. hack, hack...Cough, cough.. sneeze, sneeze.. killer headache it stinks. Anyway not much else going on here.

I am so thankful for the health of my newest niece Brinley she is doing so great and she is absolutely adorable. She continues to grow and improve and God is so good, we love her so much and are so thankful that she is such a tough little cookie.

I will try to do better on my blog but i make no promises..

Things

Well the OKC Marathon (19,000 people were walking or running in it) was great and JC did an excellent job 5:18:45. I was so proud of my hubby finishing his first marathon and not really complaining at all.

Haylie, Bayli and I had a great time while we were waiting on him (check out the pics on my facebook)

Haylie had her first softball game on Tuesday night at Greenland at 8:30 but it didn't get started until almost 9:00. I have no pictures to post because it's hard to take pictures and keep the books at the same time, I'm just not that talented. That's OK though her team won and they had a great time. She is supposed to have another game tonight but I'm thinking that's not gonna happen. I opened a twitter account this week and apparently when it asks you if you want to add your friends the Not Right Now button didn't work right because it sent an invitation email to everyone in my contact list...SORRY about that if you got one:). If you have one and you want to follow mine www.twitter.com/tanyadobbs1 (real original right)

I'm sending up extra prayers for my newest niece Brinley this morning please keep her in your prayers, she is on her way to Missouri and possibly having surgery on her heart because her PDA had grown a little bigger...she is however beautiful and so tough she will be fine just keep the prayers coming in... That's about all this week except trying to figure out what to do for the weekend....

Cheerleading and Other Matters

Well Haylie did not make Cheerleader..but that's OK she was not devastated and begrudges no one. Bayli made it again and we are happy for her. Haylie has decided though that she does not want to play basketball next year. This bugs me of course, but we will not force her to do something she does not want to do. We did tell her however that she has to finish practicing the rest of this school year because we believe that she should completely finish what she starts. I told her that she didn't have to play basketball anymore next year but she would have to find something to do that she enjoys because she would not sit around and become a couch potato or more of a computer junkie. And I do have a hope that before the school year is over that she will change her mind and decide to play next year, but if not that's OK with me too, as long as she finds something that she loves to do and does it no matter what it may be.

We took a small family road trip this past weekend to the Casco Fire equipment Grand Opening...we had fun and JC won some sort of nozzle...After that we went by the Clinton Presidential Library. Haylie did not want to go at first because she thought it would be boring, but once we were inside she had a blast and took lots of pictures of things she though were interesting or just plain cool. I will put them on facebook later. That's all for now hope everyone has a great day and wondeful week.

Smile & God Bless Everyone

The goings on around our hectic house

Well regular season Basketball is over, but off season practice and conditioning continues....Softball is in FULL swing.....and this week Haylie has been doing Cheer leading Camp with mock tryouts this afternoon and the REAL deal tomorrow at 3:15....I think am more nervous than she is I hope she makes it, but JC says it's OK with him if he doesn't have to pay the $ 800.00 (of course he always hates to part with any amount of money) But if she makes it he will happily give it up...Please keep her in your prayers that she will be OK no matter the outcome...she says if she makes Cheerleader she may or may not also do volleyball but if she doesn't then she is definitely doing volleyball...Oh the life of my busy teenage daughter who is growing into such a wonderful and beautiful young lady....No one could be a more proud parent then I am of Haylie.....I am truly blessed with such a great child.....For vacation this year she got her way of course (i don't remember a trip we've taken since she could talk that she hasn't picked) and we will be going on another cruise this year only this year she and her friend will have their own adjoining room instead of sharing one with us (i think that is relief on both ends)....it's OK with me that we re going on another cruise JC has never been more relaxed on a vacation then he was on our last cruise though I'm going to have to lose the pounds I've put on over the winter months if i want to fit into ANY of my summer clothes.....This weekend is JC's off weekend at the Funeral Home so we are taking a little Family road trip to a FIRE Equipment show somewhere....Well that about sums it up for what's going on with us...I will post more after tryouts...pray...pray....pray...

The Aquarium

Well as anyone who knows how much Haylie loves fish, sadly also knows that I have flushed more than I can count. We took a really long break from fish, until the first week of August 2008. Haylie had some money of her own so she bought a small tank and filter and a pink colored Beta Fish. We did really well with this fish (and when I say we I mean she feeds it everyday and I change the water every week).

On her birthday this year she decided that she was going to use some of her Birthday money to buy a 5 gallon aquarium and some fish. So on 2-18-09 we did however we bought 3 goldfish. Goldfish water is so hard to keep clean anyway but 3 in a 5 gallon tank.....not good.

On 02-17-09 Haylie convinced her Daddy to get a big aquarium....so thanks to Stacy and Chere' we had a huge beautiful aquarium and everything we needed to take care of these goldfish (and make it a whole lot easier on mom), but Dad decided that he also wanted some pretty tropical fish because he likes the tropical fish better than goldfish.

So we went to the pet store on 02-19-09 to get filters and carbon and came back with:

1 Golden Algae Eater
2 Mollys
2 Platys

All of these supposed to be hearty HARD to kill fish good for new aquariums..

On 02-21-09 we went back and got 3 striped tetras 1 more molly and a snail.

So in case you lost count we HAD 13 fish and 1 snail living in our beautiful aquarium.

We now have 6 fish living in our aquarium..is anyone surprised that the EASY to kill 2 goldfish and 3 striped tetras along with the algae eater are still swimming....and the HARD to kill Molly's and Platys and snail are no longer with us... Of course we would do it backwards.....

But they are doing well and I think JC even enjoys them now..he loves to feed them. Sadly Haylie's Beta had lived his life span and is as of last week no longer with us. We don't think we will put anything in the 5 gallon tank we will just add to the big aquarium...but Haylie hasn't made up her mind yet....

Haylie's Braces

Well Haylie finally got her braces on March 5th. Of course she hates them. But we did LOVE watching JC squirm having to part with all that money... We laughed all the way up there watching him try to hold on to it as long as he could (literally I had to take the check out of my checkbook and let him hold it in his hand). Of course Haylie constantly reminded him how much he was having to spend, and he would remind her of course that her vacation would be spent not on a cruise like she wanted this year but instead it would be us sitting around staring at her sparkling little mouth...

She looked so cute with them after they were on and she didn't hurt at all until about 5:30 that night. I thought we might go eat for our anniversary after she was done..but she couldn't eat so we didn't go anywhere..we stopped by and bought her a waterpick (more money spent..hahahaha) & lots of soup and Jell-O (she had to be on a soft diet for 5-7days)....we came home and started her ibuprofen.. For the swelling they told us she would have .

Of course Friday morning her mouth was swollen shut and it was really hard not to laugh..but she was already hating them and so upset that she had to have them. I tried really hard not to laugh..tried being the operative word there. She did get to stay home from school on Friday but she was miserable until about 2:00 and then her swelling started going down...and once she got used to the rubberbands in her mouth, well from then on...it was constant griping that she couldn't eat any real food and how much she hated them.

Now she's not having any trouble at all and not griping at all unless her rubberbands break in her mouth. But we will see how it goes on her next appointment on May 12th when she gets a bigger wire and they start pulling her jaw further forward...

Haylie

I can't believe that Haylie is 13 already it seems like just yesterday I was crying my eyes out because it was her first day of school..Okay I admit it I cry my eyes out every year on her first day of school...she is just growing up so fast. She of course has her daddy wrapped around her finger and they both know it, so of course I have to be the badguy and say NO, because for some reason Dad can't....So when it's something she knows i'll veto without a thought it's call daddy first. It is bittersweet because I want her to grow up, but at the same time I still want her to be that precious baby in my arms not this beautiful young lady she is becoming. But all that really matters is that she is Healthy, Happy and SPOILED ROTTEN and I wouldn't have it any other way...and neither would she!!!!
